All clients receive a federal Good Faith Estimate before the first session, as required by the No Surprises Act.
We are an in-network provider for Colorado Medicaid through two plans: Colorado Access and Rocky Mountain Health Plans. If you are enrolled in either, sessions are covered with no out-of-pocket cost to you. We bill Medicaid directly.
If you are unsure which Colorado Medicaid plan you have, log into Health First Colorado or check your member ID card.
We do not contract with commercial insurance carriers. If you have commercial insurance, you can still use your out-of-network mental-health benefits for partial reimbursement.
Here’s how it works: you pay our $155 rate at the time of service. We provide a superbill — an itemized receipt with the diagnosis code, procedure code, date, and amount paid. You submit it to your insurer; they reimburse you directly based on your out-of-network coverage. Reimbursement amounts vary widely (often 40–80% of the session fee, after meeting an out-of-network deductible).
Before your first session, call your insurer and ask: “What are my out-of-network mental-health benefits? What’s my deductible? What percentage do you reimburse for CPT code 90837 after the deductible is met?”
It’s a fair question. Insurance contracts limit how clinicians can practice — reimbursement rates are below the cost of care, session frequency is dictated by carrier policy, and a diagnosis must be assigned and submitted to the carrier within the first session for reimbursement to apply. Many of our clients prefer the privacy and flexibility of out-of-network treatment: no diagnosis on your insurance record unless clinically necessary, and treatment guided by clinical need rather than carrier rules.
We do accept Colorado Medicaid because access to mental healthcare for low-income Coloradans matters to us, and the Medicaid contract terms allow us to practice ethically.
Self-pay clients are charged at the end of each session via the credit card on file. We accept all major credit cards and HSA/FSA cards.
Cancellation policy: Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice are billed at the full rate, except in cases of illness or genuine emergency.
If you have Colorado Medicaid (Colorado Access or Rocky Mountain Health Plans), please reach out — your sessions are covered.
If you do not have insurance and the self-pay rate is genuinely out of reach, contact us anyway. We’ll discuss your situation and, if we can’t accommodate, point you toward lower-cost Catholic counseling resources in Colorado.
Our self-pay rate is $155 per 50-minute session. Couples and Prolonged Exposure sessions may run longer; pricing is prorated. We accept Colorado Medicaid (Colorado Access and Rocky Mountain Health Plans) for clients enrolled in those plans.
